Make sure your pages are titled correctly
Titles should be descriptive and key word rich - rather than merely a company name and telephone number. Also, make sure each page in your site has a different description to allow search engines to see what it contains and what’s unique.

URL Page name
Your page URL’s should also describe what is on a page for example: http.//www.aabdesign.co.uk/clientwork rather than leaving this abstract.

Keywords
Make sure your keywords (metadata) are ‘human readable’ and again reflect what is on each individual page. Each page should have different metadata.

Content
Google reads text based content - not photographs, graphics and flash animations, so make as much of the content as you can ‘html’ based text. Naturally, this isn’t always possible, so where graphic content is necessary make sure you provide relevant alternative text in the the underlying code.

Links, links, links!
Google thrives on quality content so the more authoritative writing you have on your site, the more likely Google will read it. You should also develop as many external links to your site as possible (from industry directories, etc) as the more hits your site gains the higher the potential rankings.

There’s no pure science to achieving No.1 on search engines, but by using the tips above and a little common sense you should creep up the rankings!
